About This Video

So, guitar wireless systems—which one should you buy? In this video I break down the main wireless designs you’re going to run into, from the super basic plug-in transmitter/receiver sets all the way up to pro-grade belt-pack rigs. I also clear up the stuff people ask me all the time, like range, interference, and what actually matters depending on whether you’re practicing at home, rehearsing with a band, or playing gigs. And yes—NUX supplied two of the units I’m showing, but nobody paid me for this video and no money changed hands. I start with the NUX B-1 Lite (2.4 GHz) as a solid entry-level option and I tell you flat-out to stay away from the really cheap $40–$50 Amazon units because the QA is all over the place. Then I move up to the NUX C-5RC (5.8 GHz), which has less frequency traffic and comes with a charging case—great if you’re worried about interference at gigs. Finally, I dig into the NUX B-8 pedalboard system, which is the whole reason I wanted to do this video: pedalboard-mounted receiver, strap-style transmitter, built-in tuner, boost, and more pro-level features for “mere mortal” venues without spending Shure GLXD money. From there I cover the big names—Shure and Sennheiser—where BLX and XSW 2 live in that consumer/pro borderline, and EW-D vs SLX-D is where you’re getting into real touring-grade digital systems with serious range and frequency options.
