In this video I run through the different stand styles I’ve actually used and still use, why I use them, and which ones make sense depending on whether you’re traveling, gigging, or just trying to keep a couple guitars handy in the studio. I start with compact A-frame stands (great for travel and low-profile setups), then the typical “guitar shop” tripod stand that’s cheap and gets the job done if it’s just living in a corner. After that, I get into my favorite design: the hanging/locking style stands (Hercules and Ultimate Support), because they’re stable, hard to knock over, and they actually play nice with pointy guitars like Explorers and V’s—which I’m absolutely a sucker for. Finally, I cover multi-guitar solutions: a triple stand, the bigger six-guitar tree style, and my gigging favorite—a rack that folds up like a mini guitar case and keeps everything stable and out of the way on stage.
