About This Video

In this week’s Knit 50 Squares, I’m working through Square 06: “The Mitered One” from Anna Pantelous’ Learn to Knit in 50 Squares. The whole point of this series is for me to “learn to knit” right alongside you—because I’m not the fearless knitter who thinks everything is easy. I’m the one who looks at a new technique and immediately goes, “Oh, I can’t do that,” and then we do it anyway. If you’re brand new, or if you’re like me and you’ve got that nervous voice in your head, this square is a really comfy way to practice something new without committing to a whole project. With the mitered square, we’re building skills that show up in so many places later—how shaping works, how decreases create structure, and how a small square can teach you a big lesson. I’m also keeping the focus on my goal for the year: learning new processes, one manageable step at a time. Come stitch along with me each week, and let’s keep it cozy, keep it practical, and keep proving to ourselves that we actually can do the “scary” knitting stuff.
