About This Video

August SAT is coming up fast, and the #1 thing I see students struggle with is time—on both Math and Reading. In this video, I break down five practical tricks I use (and teach my tutoring students) to answer questions way faster than the average test taker. The goal isn’t to “work harder,” it’s to work smarter so you’re not rushing the last 10 questions and praying. First, I explain why you should look at answer choices A and B first on certain SAT Math problems—especially ones with lots of variables, quadratics, or polynomials—because College Board often rewards plug-in strategies. I also talk about building mental math so you can solve without writing a novel on your scratch paper, and how using answer choices to guide you can literally tell you where to look in a passage or what approach to take in math. Then I share my elimination mindset (“elimination three trick”) so you’re not solving the whole problem from scratch—just knocking out wrong answers quickly. Finally, I show why pattern recognition from consistent practice is what turns a 5-minute problem into a 1-minute problem, so you can finish sections with time left and still stay accurate.
