I picked up a £17 milk frother from AliExpress because I kept seeing those quick “look it works!” clips, and I wanted to know if it was actually legit. So in this video I do a proper unboxing (spoiler: it’s not a fancy retail box), show you what you get, and explain the four modes: hot frothing, heating milk, cold frothing, and a hot chocolate mix mode. The whisk bit is magnetic, the unit looks way better than you’d expect for the money, and it even came with a UK plug from a local warehouse listing. Then I put it through a real-world test: cold milk from the fridge, chopped-up Whisper Gold, and I timed it. In about 3 minutes it had properly melted and mixed the chocolate, and it honestly did a bloody good job—no powder settling at the bottom, just smooth melted chocolate all the way down. After pouring, I used the hot froth setting on what was left and it whipped up a proper foam you can actually spoon on top. Cleaning was easier than I expected too—quick rinse and a simple wipe around the edge. Long-term durability is still a question, but first impressions? I’m genuinely impressed, especially compared to our £100 Velvetiser that does basically one job.
