In this video I’m testing a little phone accessory that genuinely makes shooting on your phone feel way more like using a camera. I use my phone for taking pictures a lot, so when I saw this magnetic camera-style grip (I tried it on my cheap Poco C71), I thought it might make the whole process easier and give me a better, more comfortable hold. In the box you get the device, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and the instructions—nothing fancy, but it’s all you really need. The grip itself feels pretty good for the money: hard plastic, but with a nice grippy texture. If you’ve got MagSafe (or a MagSafe-compatible case) it’ll clip straight on, and if you haven’t (like me), you stick the included metal ring on the back of your phone and the magnet in the grip grabs onto that. The magnet is strong, and once it’s on, you can angle your phone however you want—selfies, events, concerts, whatever—without that awkward “balancing a slab” feeling. My favourite bits are the built-in selfie mirror and the adjustable ring light (warm to bright white, dimmable), plus the shutter-style Bluetooth button. It pairs up easily, takes photos with no delay, and you can even use it remotely to avoid jogging the phone on low-light shots. Simple but effective—and this one’s going on my keep list.
