In this video I’m testing the Colmi R02 smart ring – basically one of the cheapest smart rings you can buy – and I’m using it the way I actually wanted a smart ring in the first place: to monitor my heart rate overnight. I’ve got a slight heart issue and I’m on medication that can push my resting heart rate down (sometimes into the low 40s), and I don’t like sleeping in a smartwatch. A ring like this is just way easier to wear in bed, and most of the time you don’t even notice it’s there (apart from the little sensor glow when it takes a reading). I go through what you get in the box (charging case, USB-A to USB-C cable, ring sizer and a silicone sleeve), the build and comfort, and the basics like IP68 water resistance. Then I jump into the Q Ring app and show you what it tracks: sleep, heart rate (mine is set to measure every 30 minutes), SpO₂, stress, steps and distance. I’m honest about the accuracy too – step counting can be a bit iffy (it’ll even count me tapping a table), but sleep and heart rate timings looked pretty believable for me. My biggest “hmm” is battery reporting. The first couple of days barely moved, then it suddenly dropped fast, and I’m only getting about 3 days real use. Still, for around £50 on Amazon, I do recommend it if you want a basic smart ring that does the core stuff well without subscriptions.
