In this video I’m doing something totally new for the channel — a mechanical keyboard review — and I went in pretty sceptical. I’ve tried mechanical keyboards before in shops and honestly didn’t like them because they were so loud, and with my PC being in the living room I’ve always stuck to quieter membrane boards. But with Christmas coming up and me wanting to spend no more than £50, I picked up the Ajazz AK980 (Starry Night Grey Edition) from AliExpress because, let’s be real, saving money is what this channel is all about. I unbox it, go over what you get in the box, and then dig into the features: 98% layout, triple-mode connectivity (wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz dongle), Windows/Mac switch, hot-swappable switches, a metal volume wheel, and a little screen (which needed Ajazz software to fix the time). I also run through the RGB effects and show how to pull a keycap and switch out. The big surprise? At first I thought it “sounds like a bag of bones” and nearly sent it back — but after replying to emails and doing a bit of gaming, I fell in love with it. The click helps me know a key has registered, I actually typed faster (48 WPM for me is wild), and even the spacebar sounds way better than my Redragon membrane keyboard. For around £50, I genuinely think it’s a cracking budget buy — as long as you’re okay with a clicky board (or you’re willing to swap switches).
