Today, we’re reviewing the brand-new DV8 Mantra Solid, the second release in the Mantra line. Featuring the Insider Extreme Solid coverstock (same as the Brutal Collision), paired with a medium-diff symmetric core (2.50 RG, .047 Diff, .011 Intermediate), this ball is designed for control and versatility. We tested it on both a modified house shot and the 37ft BAT sport pattern to show how it handles different conditions. Big thanks to Center Bowl for letting us film our ball reviews! Here’s what you’ll learn: ✅ Why the Mantra Solid is smoother than big ASYMs, but still strong ✅ How layout choice (40 × 5 ¾ × 60) affects flare and continuation ✅ Why it works best front-to-back vs. steep angles ✅ Where it fits in an arsenal compared to bigger balls like Paragon, Hypnotize, or Mesmerize 📌 Timestamps: 0:00 – Intro & Specs 0:14 – House Shot Setup 0:47 – First Shots Up 5 & Second Arrow 1:16 – Coverstock & Core Numbers Breakdown 2:24 – Shape Observations (Smooth, Continuous) 3:35 – Layout Explanation (40 × 5 ¾ × 60) 5:00 – Finding the Right Shape (Front-to-Back) 6:08 – Manipulating Rotation & Speed 7:55 – Adjustments & Shot Struggles 10:20 – Hand Position Fixes & Better Roll 13:34 – Switch to BAT 37ft Pattern 15:09 – Sport Pattern Observations 17:39 – Surface Adjustments & Shape 20:28 – Where It Fits in the Bag 21:58 – Final Thoughts & Outro 👉 Did you throw the original Mantra? About This Video

In this video I break down the brand-new DV8 Mantra Solid, the second ball in the Mantra line, and I put it through my usual “real world” test: our modified house shot first, then a 37ft BAT sport pattern (my absolute nemesis). I go over why I was excited for this one—Insider Extreme Solid cover (same as the Brutal Collision) with a medium-diff asymmetric core (2.50 RG, .047 diff, .011 int)—and what those numbers made me expect: a smoother, more front-to-back look that could handle lower volume without being a full-on big, lopey asym. What I actually saw surprised me a bit. The Mantra Solid was cleaner and more continuous downlane than I expected, especially with my layout (40 x 5 3/4 x 60). On the house shot, once I quit “whapping on it” and softened my hand, I could keep it more up the lane and control the pocket better. On BAT, it was still pretty quick off the spot and I found myself wanting it to slow down earlier—honestly, I kept thinking a 1000 pad would help it read sooner and calm the shape down. Arsenal-wise, it’s not as strong or early as stuff like Paragon/Mesmerize/Hypnotize, but it’s a solid option when you want to open the lane a bit while still keeping the pocket in play on a little less volume.
