1.7K views· 104 likes· 10:20· Mar 15, 2026

In this video, we review the Ebonite Game Breaker 5 Hybrid, the newest addition to the legendary Game Breaker series. The GB5 Hybrid features the HK22 GB 12.7 Hybrid coverstock, which combines length through the front of the lane with strong midlane traction. This hybrid design allows bowlers to maintain control while still getting enough backend motion to strike consistently. During this review, we test the ball on a traditional house shot, moving across multiple parts of the lane to see how the ball reacts under different angles and oil conditions. In this review, you’ll learn: • What makes hybrid coverstocks versatile • Why the Game Breaker line is known for control • How this ball blends the mids and handles friction • When to use a mid-tier control ball in league • How layouts affect ball motion and reaction shape This ball is ideal for bowlers who want a predictable and controllable reaction, especially on medium oil or transitioning house conditions. A big thanks to Center Bowl for letting us film our ball reviews! About This Video

In this video I’m reviewing the brand new Ebonite Game Breaker 5 Hybrid for 2026, and I put it through my usual “let’s see what it really does” test on our traditional house shot. This one uses the HK22 GB 12.7 Hybrid cover, and the big story for me is that it gets you that extra length through the fronts, but it still has enough midlane to keep the motion smooth and predictable. I started up five (like always) and yeah… five board on house is still a struggle for basically everything I throw, but once I got into more realistic lines, the ball started telling the truth. As I moved in from second arrow to left of third, the GB5 Hybrid blended the mids really well and didn’t do anything wild off the friction. Out of box at about 2000, it’s more of a control shape, and I think if you bump it to 4000 or add compound you’ll see more pop downlane. I did notice it can get a little sensitive once carrydown shows up—if it skates and gets behind the headpin, you’ll start seeing those wrap 10s and weird corners. Layout-wise I went pin in the ring finger (4 3/4 x 50), which is my go-to for symmetrics when I want smooth control without killing the hook. If you’re rev dominant, this is the kind of mid-tier piece you can grab in league and feel comfortable fast—instant confidence, new ball carry, the whole thing.
