About This Video

In this video I review the brand new DV8 Dark Side Curse, and I wanted to make it a little different (and honestly, more fun). DV8 has been leaning hard into no-thumb/two-handed development, so I tested this ball both ways: first two-handed (no thumb) as a very novice two-hander with not a ton of ball speed, and then I literally drilled a thumb hole mid-video and threw it one-handed so you can see the difference in motion. We’re on my same “souped-up” house shot with extra volume, and we move across the lane to show what the ball wants to do as friction shows up. The big takeaway: the Dark Side Curse is smooth, predictable, and controllable. It’s not the strongest ball in the world, and that’s a GOOD thing for a lot of rev-dominant and two-handed bowlers—especially newer two-handers who have rev rate but struggle with speed. With the no-thumb layout it stayed really manageable and didn’t feel like it was going to get me in trouble, and with the thumb added it got a little flippier (different layout, different weights), but the overall shape stayed consistent. For me, it really likes seeing some friction, and it fits best as a house-shot ball or a transition piece on sport patterns when you want control instead of a hockey-stick skid/flip look.
