Have you ever turned on a VPN and suddenly everything—YouTube, gaming, even basic browsing—starts routing through your VPN server? In this video, I show you how to fix that by creating a WireGuard split tunnel on the client side with one simple change to your config file. The whole idea is to route only the traffic you choose through the VPN, while keeping the rest of your internet fast and local. I walk through the key line that controls everything in a WireGuard client config: AllowedIPs. When it’s set to 0.0.0.0/0, that’s a full tunnel—meaning all traffic goes through the VPN. If you change AllowedIPs to only your internal network range, WireGuard automatically sends just that “home network” traffic through the tunnel, and everything else bypasses the VPN and goes straight out to the public internet. I also show a real working example on my iPhone 15, where I edit the downloaded config, save it, and instantly convert it from full tunnel to split tunnel. By the end, you’ll have a setup that’s speedy, secure, and a lot more practical for everyday use.
