About This Video

Hey everyone—this is Part 5 of my GDS learning journey, and in this one I focus on mobile access using the Grandstream Secure Access app. I walk through what you need to get started (you do need a GDMS account), the basic device requirements (Android 10+ or iOS 13+), and the permissions you’ll want to allow so Bluetooth unlocking and notifications work correctly. From there, I show you how I put the GDS door station into pairing mode (hold the green button for about 10 seconds) and add it to the app so it shows up on the home screen. Once it’s added, I test the three big unlock options: remote unlock, Bluetooth unlock, and dynamic QR codes for visitors. Remote unlock is the “kid locked out while you’re at work” scenario—tap unlock right in the app. For Bluetooth, I show the one-tap key button plus the two behaviors: hands-free and shake-to-unlock. In real life, I personally keep hands-free off (I don’t want the door unlocking when I’m just standing there), but I do like the shake option. Finally, I create a time-limited QR code, set an unlock limit (like one-time use), and demonstrate it working—and then failing on the second attempt exactly like it should. I also show how app-created users show up as “app side” in the web interface, how the cloud SIP number gets added to doorbell settings, and how serial vs parallel hunting changes whether the call hits my mobile first or rings both my mobile and desk phone at the same time.
