About This Video

Happy 2026, everybody! In this Saturday Afternoon Live stream, I’m back on our regular 12:15 schedule from southeastern North Carolina, catching up with the community after the holidays and talking through what I’ve been working on in the home network lab. I kick things off with a simple New Year’s resolution poll, share my own goal of getting back to healthier eating and the gym, and give a quick channel update as we push toward 30,000 subscribers. From there, I get into practical network “bench talk” and show off a set of RJ45 port locks I picked up (cheap, effective, and they actually work as advertised). I also walk through a real-world wiring mishap one of my viewers ran into while mounting an outdoor camera—because that’s the kind of stuff that happens in real installs. Finally, I share progress on my outdoor Wi‑Fi project: mounting a Grandstream GWN7670LR on the pergola, routing Ethernet and grounding, and keeping it clean enough to pass the all-important spousal approval factor. The big takeaway: small details like cable routing, grounding, and physical port security matter just as much as the gear itself.
