About This Video

In this Saturday Afternoon Live, I’m mostly catching up with you on what’s been going on around here and a few changes I noticed in YouTube Studio. I almost launched late because the Studio layout looked different—bigger preview window, tabs moved around—and I also saw a new “dual stream” option that’s supposed to auto-generate a vertical crop for the Shorts feed. I haven’t tested it yet, but I’m curious how it’ll handle the way I switch layouts during a live stream. I also mentioned YouTube’s upcoming creator protection features, including a likeness/AI protection tool that should roll out more broadly in early 2026. On the network side, I talked about a phishing/scam trend where people are getting added to random Google Groups to bypass spam filters. I show what the email looks like and the exact Google Groups setting I changed (disabling “allow group managers to add me to their groups”) so it can’t happen again. I also shared updates on two projects: Grandstream’s newly released GWN7800 Pro switch line (I compared specs like PoE budgets, routing, multicast group limits, redundant power, and the new SDVoE controller feature), and my outdoor networking work where I’m running Cat6 and grounding to an exterior box for a cleaner, safer install.
