About This Video

In this Saturday Afternoon LIVE (12:15), I kicked back with the community for our weekly chat and talked through a bunch of real-world home network stuff that happened in my lab this week. I also switched up the intro music and shared a free option creators can use—CreatorMix—because I spent a good 45 minutes to an hour digging through tracks until I found something with a little “mystique.” I also touched on the ongoing weirdness with YouTube comments randomly disappearing, because it’s been happening across multiple streams. On the home network side, I walked through a few pain points and fixes: I officially retired my 2014 MacBook Pro after updates knocked out Signal desktop support, Bluetooth settings, and even broke the “auto-fill” behavior in my password manager. Then I covered a power event where utility power bounced up and down repeatedly, which exposed a failing CyberPower UPS in my rack (it wasn’t providing any runtime at all). I swapped in an APC unit temporarily, calculated load/headroom, and started shopping for a proper pure sinewave rackmount replacement. Finally, I announced my 30K subscriber giveaway (a Grandstream GWN7703 24-port unmanaged switch) and unboxed a new Grandstream “Pro” switch, took baseline noise readings, and talked about what I like—and what I wish it had (like 2.5GbE on the copper ports).
