About This Video

Saturday Afternoon Live is my weekly catch-up where we talk through what’s going on in the community and what I’m tinkering with in the lab. I start by checking in with everyone in the chat, sharing a quick recap of my whirlwind Chicago trip, and yes—reminding you why I don’t love flying. When a captain starts talking about engines not starting, that’s not the kind of “transparency” that builds confidence, but I made it home safe and I’ll take 62 degrees over 37 and snow any day. From there, I share Alonzo’s gear-for-sale list (link is in the description) and talk through some of the items, including UPS units and switching gear that could be useful in a home lab. Then I shift into what I’m actively working on: experimenting with a reverse proxy (I’m leaning toward NGINX Proxy Manager) to solve internal SSL certificate headaches and make it easier to reach services without messy port juggling. Finally, I unbox and start configuring the Grandstream GDS3725 door station and an electric strike. I wire it up, get the relay working, and show how the keypad unlock works (yes—ending with # matters), plus I start getting it ready to place SIP calls through my PBX.
