The Audio-Technica SP3X might just be the biggest sounding tiny speakers I’ve ever heard. These compact bookshelf speakers pack serious punch, with deep lows and wide staging that could rival entry-level studio monitors. In this video, I’ll share my reviewand how the SP3X fits into a home studio, music production setup, or even as a TV/entertainment speaker. 👉 If you’re just starting out in mixing and music production, or looking for budget studio monitors under $200, the SP3X could surprise you. I’ll compare it against larger monitors like the Kali IN8, talk about how I use it for mix referencing, and why this speaker is worth checking out before buying anything else. About This Video

These might be the biggest sounding tiny speakers I’ve ever heard—seriously. In this video I unbox and review the Audio-Technica AT-SP3X powered bookshelf speakers, and I break down why they surprised me the first time I heard them at Audio-Technica HQ. For something this small, the SP3X throws out punchy, deep lows, wide staging, and imaging that’s honestly good enough to get it confused with larger monitors in a quick A/B. I also had a few friends audition them without telling them anything beforehand, so you get their raw reactions on vocals, highs, low extension, and how “monitor-like” these can feel. I go through the quick specs (1" tweeter, 3" woofer, active + slave setup, Bluetooth 5.3, RCA, rated down to 55 Hz) and then get into how I actually use them: as real-life “B monitors” for mix translation, as a quick Bluetooth music setup when I don’t want to power the whole studio, and even as TV/entertainment speakers (I preferred these for music over my Samsung Q990B soundbar). If you’re starting out in mixing on a tight budget, I also share my honest take: I’d still start with good headphones first, then pair something like this with your interface and split your mixing 50/50 between headphones and speakers. For the price, you really need to try these before buying other small “studio monitors” that cost double.
