In this video I share what I actually think about the Soundbrenner Wave IEM—no fluff, just what I noticed after trying it. Build-wise, the package is honestly just okay for the price: the cable is really thin (I’ve seen cheaper IEMs ship with nicer braided cables), but you do get a good selection of tips including silicone and memory foam. The big takeaway: to me, this is not reference level in any way. It’s more “prosumer sounding at best,” and the only place I’d personally use it is on stage. On stage, the tuning makes more sense. The Wave has extra bass energy (which can actually help when you’re fighting stage noise and losing low end with universal IEMs), and the mids cut with a bit of extra energy around the ear gain region—almost nasally to my ears, but useful when you need vocals and guitars to push through a busy mix. The top end is controlled and not harsh like a lot of cheap drivers, but isolation with the silicone tips isn’t great, so high-frequency stage noise can creep in—especially behind a drum kit. My fix is swapping to the memory foam tips (just know that adds even more low end).
