About This Video

In this video, I’m sharing the simple strategies that helped me finally conquer the mess in my home—because I can definitely relate to that overwhelmed feeling. For me, mess usually comes down to two things: being disorganized and having too much stuff (and honestly, it’s often both). Instead of doing a big purge every time things get bad, I start by organizing first—meaning I give everything a real “home,” not just make it look pretty with matching labels. I walk you through how to start small, sort like with like, and avoid what I call “organized chaos,” where you just shove everything into drawers and then can’t find anything later. Once you’ve organized, then it actually makes sense to declutter. I share my three-question filter—Do I love it? Do I use it? Do I need it?—and if the answer is no, it’s clutter and it should leave your living space. I also cover popular decluttering methods (KonMari, the Minimalists’ packing party and game method, the one-a-day method, and the four-box method), plus how I let my available storage space dictate how much I can keep. Finally, I get into maintenance: one-in-one-out, my “delivery box” rule, the closet hanger method, quick room scans, daily room resets, and being mindful before buying—because everything you buy becomes something you have to manage.
