It’s time for our “Parent Peek” again! If you aren’t familiar with “Parent Peek,” it’s essentially an opportunity for families to come into the classroom and get a “peek” at what we are doing. In other words, I get to teach a lesson in front of my students and their families… that’s both nervewrecking and exciting at the same time! You may remember the fruit themed stations we did last year (and yes, I dressed up as a banana) but this year we are changing it up. My students are creating “Rube Goldberg Machines” that will ring a bell, turn on a light, or pop a balloon. In this vlog, I take you behind the scenes of this “Parent Peek” and show you how I communicated this event with families, how this connects with our science curriculum, all of the slides I used to teach the lesson, and how I organized the materials. I can’t wait for you to hear all about it! __________________________________________________________________ 🎥 SUBSCRIBE TO POCKETFUL OF PRIMARY: https://www.youtube.com/pocketfulofprimary?sub_confirmation=1 VLOG PLAYLIST: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzMt-laLU9XwfKSOykTpRq2IGVustA-U8 🍎🛒 CLASSROOM 2025-2026 AMAZON LIST: https://amzn.to/3H8VQEw CHAPTERS: 0:00 Intro 0:50 What is “Parent Peek”? 2:50 Communicating with families 4:15 Current science unit 6:14 Slides for “Parent Peek” 14:05 Organizing the materials 19:23 Morning check in before it starts 22:06 Reflection of how “Parent Peek” went 24:30 Outro 👀🎥 PARENT PEEK 2024 VLOG: https://youtu.be/scwrcR665Jg RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE RECORDING SHEET EDITABLE TEMPLATE: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/17XHOPDyapZlTXujbKQIeAmV34qwPbuewA8N_WlVHIi8/copy 🛎️ BELLS: https://amzn.to/4ipPGhF 📦🪚 MAKEDO CARDBOARD CONSTRUCTION TOOLKIT: 50 PIECES - https://amzn.to/4acPS1t 126 PIECES - https://amzn.to/4albybM 360 PIECES - https://amzn.to/3Mpo8gc __________________________________________________________________ 🍏 TEACHERSPAYTEACHERS STORE: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Pocketful-Of-Primary 📖🥇🍎 FIRST CLASS TEACHING BOOK: Amazon - https://amzn.to/4b8C3hp Audible - https://www.audible.com/pd/First-Class-Teaching-Audiobook/B0C3FQVJN2 Audiobooks - https://www.audiobooks.com/audiobook/first-class-teaching-10-lessons-you-dont-learn-in-college/673960 🛒 AMAZON FAVORITES: http://bit.ly/pocketfulofprimarystore 🍎🛒🖤 CLASSROOM AMAZON WISHLIST: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1JLJUE48YFDLO?ref_=wl_share 🍎 POCKETFUL OF PRIMARY MERCHANDISE: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PocketfulofPrimary?ref=search_shop_redirect __________________________________________________________________ Find me on my other social media platforms: INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/pocketfulofprimary FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/PocketfulofPrimary/ PINTEREST: https://www.pinterest.com/pocketfulofprim/ PODCAST: https://teachingonthedouble.com/podcasts/ WEBSITE: www.pocketfulofprimary.com For business inquiries, please contact: pocketfulofprimary@gmail.com __________________________________________________________________ *My description includes referral codes/links that allow me to earn points or credit that can be redeemed for products and/or subscriptions. About This Video

It’s time for “Parent Peek” again, which basically means families come into our classroom to get a real look at what we’re doing… and yes, I’m teaching a lesson with a room full of parents watching. It’s equal parts nerve-wracking and exciting, but I love that it builds community and helps families understand what learning actually looks like day to day. In this vlog, I take you behind the scenes—how I communicated the event with families, what the schedule looked like, and how I prepped my kids (and myself) so it felt smooth and positive. This year we switched things up from last year’s fruit-themed stations (RIP banana costume) and connected Parent Peek to our current science unit by having students create Rube Goldberg Machines. I walk you through the slides I used to teach the lesson, the expectations I set, and the simple systems I used to organize materials so it didn’t turn into chaos. I also share a quick check-in the morning of and a reflection after it’s over—what went well, what I’d tweak, and why I still think inviting families in is so worth it.
