On January 4, 2026, I headed out to Piney Falls with Ron Durant for a fun morning of waterfall photography. This one is all about getting out in the field, hiking in, and working a scene the way I actually do it—finding compositions, slowing down, and making long exposures that give the water that smooth, flowing look. I’m shooting with the OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II paired with the 8-25mm f/4 PRO, which is a really handy range for waterfalls because I can go wide for the whole scene or tighten up a bit without swapping lenses. I also brought my Maven filters, including a 10-stop ND, to stretch shutter speeds and control the look of the water. Long exposures can be tricky with changing light and spray, so having a simple filter setup you can work quickly matters.
