Nikon Z8 600PF with 1.4 Teleconverter Eagles, Cranes & More!

Join me for a cold, misty morning of bird photography at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge and Blythe Ferry. I’m testing out a new piece of gear—a used 1.4x Z-mount teleconverter paired with my 600mm f/6.3, giving me 840mm at f/9. With heavy overcast skies and extremely low light, I worked with shutter speeds as slow as 1/60s to capture creative motion and detail in sandhill cranes, American white pelicans, and multiple bald eagles (both immature and adult). Along the way, I share sample shots, talk about shooting challenges at long focal lengths in poor light, and show a few video clips of the action on the refuge. Despite the conditions, it turned into a fun morning of wildlife photography and unexpected encounters.
