About This Video

In this tutorial, I’m walking you through how to paint 6 easy watercolor autumn leaves step by step. Fall leaves are honestly one of my favorite warm-ups because you can practice so many beginner-friendly skills in one little subject—loose shapes, soft blends, and those simple vein details that make a leaf feel “finished” without overworking it. I keep everything relaxing and approachable, so you can paint right along with me even if you’re brand new to watercolor. We’ll play with classic fall color mixes using yellows, quinacridones, greens, and a touch of earthy browns to get that cozy autumn feel. I also share how I like to control water (so your edges stay soft when you want them to, and crisp when you don’t), plus a few easy ways to layer in depth. By the end, you’ll have six different leaf styles you can reuse in wreaths, cards, sketchbooks, or as little filler elements in floral compositions.
