About This Video

Happy fall! In this beginner-friendly tutorial, I’m walking you through an easy loose watercolor autumn floral composition using warm, cozy fall colors. I start by talking through supplies and how I like to plan a simple, balanced composition, then we build the painting step by step so you never feel lost. You’ll see me paint a couple of primary flowers first (including loose roses), and then I fill everything in with layered leaves and small filler blooms to bring the whole arrangement together. My biggest goal in this paint-along is to help you relax and enjoy the process while still learning the “why” behind what I’m doing—like starting with your focal flowers, letting the first layers dry, and then coming back in for depth and contrast. I also share the exact color palette I used (think quin sienna, deep reds, and earthy greens) and how I mix in deeper tones like perylene maroon and raw umber to make the florals feel richer and more autumnal. If you’re brand new to loose florals, this is a great place to start—and you’ll end with a pretty fall piece you can recreate again and again.
