About This Video

After testing dozens of GPUs over the years (and a handful just this year), I’ve got a pretty solid feel for what actually makes a graphics card “worth it” on a tight budget. In this video, I talk about my favorite ~$100 GPU right now: the GTX 1660 series (regular, Super, and Ti). You can find these for roughly $90–$110 on eBay (often cheaper locally), and they hit a sweet spot that’s honestly hard to ignore if you’re trying to breathe life into a 1080p setup without spending new-GPU money. I break down the big reasons I like these cards: they sip power at around 120W (great for weaker PSUs and office PC upgrades), Nvidia still supports them with drivers for new games, and they support newer features like mesh rendering in titles that use it. The sleeper benefit is Turing NVENC—recording, rendering, and streaming are just easier and cleaner than older GTX cards, and even better than some AMD options in that price range. I keep it real though: the major issue is the 6GB of VRAM. It’s fine today for a lot of games, but some titles are already pushing past that even at 1080p low. I show real gaming results (Apex, New World, Fortnite, Hogwarts Legacy) and then lay out two build paths: a proper affordable Ryzen 5 3600 build, or the ultra-cheap “drop it into an old office PC” route to get gaming for around $200 total.
