In this video I jump straight into how I got this Malibu Barbie pink ombré moment using the Kiss Colors Tintation dyes. I start by showing you the Amazon wig I used (it came in that super yellowy blonde) and I walk you through the prep—especially protecting the lace. Because I’m doing the watercolor method, I coat the lace in Vaseline first so the dye doesn’t stain it and make everything 10 times harder than it needs to be. For color, I used Pink Petal and Pink Mania to try to get that light pink at the top, then I went in with a richer, darker pink for the ends to create the gradient. I’ll be real: Pink Petal kind of sucked for me with the watercolor method—it took forever and didn’t want to give me that true pastel, more like it just toned the blonde. I ended up mixing dye with conditioner and also showing that sometimes you just need to do it the old-fashioned way and apply dye directly. After rinsing, I explain how I get Vaseline out of the lace (dish soap only), then I move into styling—blow dry, center it on the mannequin, pin it down, and lightly pluck the hairline so it’s not giving boxy doll. The final color is so pretty and I’m still obsessed.
