Raised Air Intake or Snorkel test Check out this video showing what happened with the pre filter did it work!!???

About This Video

This one’s a follow-up to my raised air intake pre-filter test. I pulled the pre-filter off, cracked open the air box, and had a proper look at what actually got caught versus what still made it through. Under the bonnet it was definitely dusty (so we know the conditions were real), and inside the air box there was some dust sitting around the edges. The main side of the filter looked relatively clean, but yep—there was still evidence that a bit of fine dust had gotten past. When I opened the pre-filter bowl though, it told the real story. There was a decent amount of junk in there—fine dust, bits of grass, and other debris that would’ve otherwise ended up loading up the main air filter. A lot of this came from following someone on dusty tracks, which is exactly when you want this sort of setup working for you. So even though the air box wasn’t spotless, I’d still call it a win because it clearly reduced what the main filter had to deal with. I also talk about the water side of things—these can catch water in the bowl on wet days, and a diesel tech mate has seen damp filters come in with these fitted—so that’s something I’ll be watching when the rainy season hits.
