I’m 45 days out from deer season and I did the thing you’re not “supposed” to do—I bought a brand new bow. Wise idea? No. Am I excited about it? Yes. In this video I break down my new Hoyt Alpha AX-2, Hoyt’s 2025 flagship aluminum hunting bow (think of it as the aluminum cousin to the carbon RX9), and why I upgraded from my Hoyt Torrex XT after three years of hunting with it. I walk through the key specs—about a 32 5/8" axle-to-axle length, 4.5 lb weight, 6 1/2" brace height, and Hoyt’s 4th gen HBX cams. Those cams are a bit more aggressive, so the front half of the draw is stiffer, but compared to other “aggressive” flagship bows I shot in the shop, the Hoyt still felt the smoothest. At full draw the AX-2 is ridiculously steady, quiet, and vibration-free, and I love the longer-bow string angle. I also cover my setup choices (70 lb, 80% let-off, hard back wall, TightSpot quiver, back bar + 10" stabilizer) and then I shoot it at 46 yards to show what it’s doing on target. Bottom line: flagship bows are expensive, but for me the AX-2 feels like I’m getting my money’s worth.
