Struggling to install AdGuard Home (DNS Adblocker) on a really old Pi

In this video, I attempt to install AdGuard DNS Blocker on a stupidly old Raspberry Pi from 2011. I hope you enjoy this 30 minute struggle :) This is not a tutorial, this is more just the adventure of me trying desperately to make it work. Hope it's fun! About This Video

In this video I try (and fail… and fail again) to get AdGuard Home running on a stupidly old Raspberry Pi I forgot I even owned. It’s one of those CeX “about a tenner” finds, and it’s tiny and low power, which is perfect for a DNS adblocker server—way less overkill than leaving a laptop running with a fan screaming. The problem is: this thing is ancient, it’s slow, and the networking is a bit cursed because the Ethernet is tied into USB, so it’s not exactly flying. Most of the video is basically me wrestling with OS images, wrong architectures (yep, I grabbed the 64-bit Ubuntu Server image for a 32-bit Pi), weird boot errors, power cables that don’t behave, and a ton of janky filming because I don’t have a capture card. Eventually I give up on Ubuntu and switch to Raspberry Pi OS Lite, get it online through my internet booster, enable SSH, update packages (very slowly), and finally run the AdGuard Home install command. In the end it actually works: I hit the web UI on port 3000, set it up, and point my PC and phone DNS at it. Straight away it starts blocking loads of requests (Reddit was absolutely farming them), and it’s genuinely satisfying seeing what your devices are doing in the query log.
