In this video I unbox what might be the most ridiculous AliExpress find I’ve had in a while: a “gaming” mechanical keyboard that cost me £1. I’m literally reviewing it on the floor, and it turns up in the most generic brown box ever—just a logo slapped on top and a bunch of legal stuff on the back (with Outlook and Gmail listed… very professional). But inside, there actually is a keyboard, plus a surprisingly long USB-C cable, a puller tool, and even two spare red switches. Once I plug it into my gaming laptop, it lights up with flashy RGB and—somehow—it actually works. The board is super light (like there’s nothing inside), the socket feels a bit mushy, and the colour is honestly horrendous (it was the only option). The big catch is the layout: it’s basically a US layout, with weird placement like the backslash under backspace, and that’s a dealbreaker if you’re used to a proper UK layout. Still, for a quid, the sound is decent, it’s not membrane, and the included cable and spare switches feel like they’re worth the price on their own.
