Mostly waffle, but here's a little review/overview of my new Lenovo ThinkPad X250. Great laptop for basic tasks :) 12.5 inch IPS display 2x batteries internal and external i5-5200U @ 2.2 Ghz 8GB DDR3 (single stick) 128GB SSD

About This Video

In this video I waffle a bit (as usual) and show off my new birthday laptop: a Lenovo ThinkPad X250 I picked up used on eBay for about £65–£75. It’s exactly what I wanted—small, light, and actually usable for basic stuff like web browsing, messaging, and a bit of YouTube when I’m out. Compared to my old Amazon Fire tablet, it’s just miles better because I’ve got a proper keyboard and it doesn’t feel painfully slow. Spec-wise it’s got an i5-5200U, 8GB RAM (annoyingly a single-stick setup), and a 128GB SSD. I’m running Windows 11 on it even though it’s not officially supported, because I don’t really care—and honestly it boots fast and feels surprisingly snappy for an older dual-core i5. The big win for me is the battery setup: it’s got two batteries (internal + external) and on Windows 10 I was getting around 3–4 hours of mixed use through the day, which is solid for a used laptop. I also go over ports (no HDMI, which is annoying), show a VGA/mini DisplayPort workaround, and jump into the BIOS to show a really handy feature that lets you choose where the boot/BIOS display outputs—perfect for capture card recording without messing with internal connectors.
