About This Video

Alright y’all—this video is a full walkaround update on my 2018 Double Cab Tundra in Quicksand, and I’m breaking down what it actually takes to turn a full-size truck into a legit overlander. I go front to back on the build: TRD Pro grille, Morimoto lighting (4Banger fogs, 2Bangers on the A-pillars, and Big Bangers up top), the Uptop Zulu rack setup, and how I wired everything clean with dual Garmin PowerSwitch units so I can control lighting from the cab (and even through CarPlay on my head unit). I also get into the camping side of the build—FSR Odyssey rooftop tent and the newer FSR Tailgater awning that gives me covered space off the back without pushing my topper weight too far. On the suspension and tire side, I’m running Dirt King 2.5 remote reservoir shocks with UCAs, 35x12.50 Ridge Grapplers, and SSW Apex wheels (sadly discontinued). I talk honestly about what I love, what’s annoying about building a 2nd gen Tundra (aftermarket is not great), and the real money side of it. And yeah—here’s the reality check: I realized while editing I never gave a proper cost breakdown, so I lay it out. The mods add up to about $26,500 on top of what the truck cost, which is absurd money, and I straight up don’t recommend most people do it this way. I’m also at a crossroads on whether I keep this truck or go back to something like a 4Runner or GX470—so I ask you guys to weigh in.
