In this video I break down my two favorite camp stoves I’ve ever used and put them head-to-head: the Camp Chef Everest 2X and the Camp Chef Mountaineer. I’ve been looking at the Mountaineer for years, and it finally performed exactly how I expected. The big reason I’m so into both of these is output—most “normal” camp stoves are around 10,000 BTU per burner, but these are 20,000 BTU per burner (40,000 total), which makes a huge difference when you want a more professional cooking experience out camping. I go over the similarities (two-burner propane, auto ignition, three-sided wind protection, lots of flame control) and the key differences like size, weight, cooking space, and why one costs about half as much as the other. I also do a quick boil test with three cups of water and, like you’d expect with matching BTUs, they were basically the same. My personal favorite is the Mountaineer because of the built-in legs and the way it packs without those knobs sticking out, but if you want to save money and get nearly the same performance, the Everest 2X is an easy win for most people.
