About This Video

In this video I’m walking you through my Free Spirit Recreation (FSR) Odyssey V2 rooftop tent in the Standard size, and yeah—I’m calling it my favorite roof top tent I’ve owned so far. I went Standard because I wanted less weight up top (this one is about 135 lb), and it’s light enough that it makes sense for big trucks, crossovers, and even something like a Forester. It’s a side-opening design, so you can use the “wall” side to block wind—just aim that side into the wind when you set up. I break down why I prefer this over a clamshell style for actual sleeping space and headroom, because I get full use of the mattress and it opens high on both sides. I also go over the dimensions, the low-profile exterior, the T-slot channels on the top and bottom (huge for mounting accessories like traction boards, Rotopax, or crossbars), and the materials. Inside, you get shoe bags, tons of storage pockets, a full blackout setup with netting + blackout layers, and a dimmable light strip that comes standard—something I’ve had to buy separately on more expensive tents. I also cover the heater/AC pass-through ports that cinch down around the hose, which is a big deal for true 4-season use.
