You’ll see our usual Maritime mornings: getting the kids out the door, waiting on the school bus in the milder weather (plus two and plus three felt downright tropical), and keeping an eye on the dogs while they carry on like they own the whole neighborhood. We also had the whole earbud saga—Misha fell asleep on the bus and lost her earbuds and the case, and the bus driver knew right away whose they were. That gave me a laugh, even if it’s “for goodness sakes” at the same time. I also take you along for real life stuff—garbage day after holiday schedule changes (our compost was freakin’ full), quick and easy suppers when I don’t have it in me to stand over the stove, and a grocery haul my husband brought home for things like chili and hamburger soup. In between town runs and paperwork, I talk honestly about how much you learn when you’re handling a loved one’s affairs—having your name authorized on bills and accounts can save so many hoops later.
