We headed back out to a wildlife management area right up from Cooper’s Creek (Blue Ridge/Suches, Georgia) to revisit the exact spot where our buddy Jason and our friend Tyler had what can only be described as a terrifying encounter. Before we even get into the screaming-in-the-woods part, we walk through what was found up by the privy/outhouse area: a deflated tent with stuff still inside, multiple totes (rotted meat, bread, butter, piles of dirty clothes), a skull with red-and-black designs, jewelry, and even a handgun sitting in the tent. The whole scene felt off, and in daylight it’s easier to see how close everything is—open area, treeline, and the path through the woods. Then Jason breaks down what happened that night around 11:30 PM at their campsite about 150 feet away. While he was playing guitar (yes, even “Fade to Black”), something let out a series of roars—like a mix of T-Rex, pterodactyl, wolf, and a man chanting—so loud it was louder than a car alarm panic button. No footsteps, no warning, just instant “we’re in danger” vibes.
