We’re Nick & Rachel, and in this adventure we’re out near Hiawassee, Georgia to track down an unmarked, hidden waterfall called Garrett Branch Falls. There are no signs, no maintained trail, and you’re basically following an old logging road off Hwy 180 near Nota Mountain Retreat (you can spot the flag). It’s a short distance from the road, but don’t let that fool you—this one is a rugged little bushwhack with downed trees, sketchy footing, and a couple spots where you really need to watch where you step. We used the directions from the Georgia Waterfalls guidebook and leaned on the basics: listen for the water, stay aware of the terrain, and look for little clues that other people have been through (like old machete marks). We also talk safety—service is spotty out here, so download the video ahead of time if you need it, and definitely let someone know where you’re going (coordinates and all). Once you finally break through to the falls, it makes the work worth it—quiet, tucked back in the forest, and one of those North Georgia hidden gems most people drive right past.
