About This Video

In this video, I reviewed the Fantech Sniper II HG16s gaming headphones and did a full mic test. I start off with the price—around RM90 (about $25)—and why I picked this model in the first place: it’s USB powered. A 3.5mm jack is fine too, but USB is digital and I find it more stable, plus you get a long 2m cable (though it’s PVC, and I personally would’ve preferred braided). For design and comfort, I actually like the Sniper II’s RGB lighting that’s always on, especially if you’re already rocking an RGB setup. The mic is non-detachable, but you can push it down when you don’t want it in the way. Comfort-wise, Fantech keeps it simple—there’s no manual height adjustment because it self-adjusts, and at 254g it stays light on the head, so I’m comfortable wearing it for long sessions like gaming or even video editing. Sound-wise, you’re getting 40mm dual drivers and virtual 7.1 surround, and I’d say it’s aimed more at gamers than audiophiles. I also cover the on-headset controls (volume and mic mute), and my one complaint is you don’t really get a clear indicator if mute is on or off. Overall, for the price, it’s a pretty solid bang-for-your-buck gaming headset with a surprisingly decent mic.
