About This Video

In this video, I review the ASUS ROG Strix Arion M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure, and I kick things off with the price—RM215. Basically, this is a casing that lets you use an M.2 NVMe SSD as an external drive, and it supports multiple M.2 sizes (2230/2242/2260/2280). It runs on USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with up to 10Gbps, so it’s meant for fast external storage instead of the usual slow portable drives. Design-wise, I really like how sturdy it feels. You’re getting an aluminum alloy casing plus thermal pads for aggressive heat dissipation, which matters because SSDs can get pretty warm when you’re moving files or running games. You also get that futuristic look with ASUS Aura Sync lighting, so if you’re already using ASUS gear, you can sync the RGB together. In the box, ASUS includes a hanging protective holder, a ROG keychain, and both USB-C to C and USB-A to USB-C cables. Installation is genuinely easy and pretty much tool-free—just use the little pin to open it up, and you can tighten the SSD using the back of the pin. For speed testing, I paired it with the ROG Strix Scar 17 (Ryzen 9 5900HX + RTX 3080) and I got up to around 3500MB/s read and 2700MB/s write, which is very decent for external. If you’re a laptop gamer with limited internal storage, this is a solid way to add fast game storage and stay lag-free.
