About This Video

Since April 2018 I’ve reviewed 100+ Windows apps, and somehow I never did the one app that sits at the center of everything: the Microsoft Store itself. In this video I finally do a proper, in-depth Microsoft Store app review on Windows 11 (I’m on an Insider Dev build, 25115, but the layout is basically the same on stable). I walk through the Home layout, the Fluent styling, the sidebar animations, and how the Store handles apps, games, and Movies & TV—plus the Library and how it launches content into the actual Movies & TV app. Design-wise, I like a lot of what’s here: the overall layout is clean, the sections are easy to browse, pages have the info you expect (ratings, dates, file size for movies, etc.), and the navigation/back behavior feels thought-through. But I also “zonk” Microsoft on some very real UX issues: search is awkward to dismiss (clicking away doesn’t behave consistently), search history can overlap other dialogs like Redeem Code, and there are UI inconsistencies like square-corner popups and mismatched scrollbar styles. Biggest takeaway: the Store is close, but search ordering/algorithm and polish-level consistency still need Microsoft’s attention.
