In today’s project, we’re heading back into the woodland world because I stumbled across a sleepy little hedgehog in the forest… and of course I had to bring him home. Meet Herbert, the tiny needle felted hedgehog who now lives on the back of my Forest Witch Hat. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how I shaped Herbert’s clay features, built his tiny wire frame, and brought his wooly body to life, quills and all. It’s a simple process with a magical payoff, perfect for anyone who wants to craft a woodland companion of their own. Thank you for stopping by the Mythical Makers Workshop. I hope Herbert inspires you to create a mythical creature of your own! 📍Where you can find us: Business Email: Magneticnerdsent@gmail.com TikTok: Mythical Makers Workshop Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mythical.makers.workshop/ Facebook: Mythical Makers Workshop 🎶 Music is from Epidemicsound https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/gfexzx/ 🧰 SUPPLIES we used: - Amateur wire - Super Sculpey medium - Translucent Sculpey (for the fingernails) - Aluminum foil - Eyeball sized glass beads - Pipe planners - Core fiber - Wool Roving: - Natural unbleached White - Eco Dark brown Sheep - Dark Brown - Felt off-white - PVA glue - Clear Tacky glue - Chalk pastels 🎨 PAINTS we used: - Vallejo game colors: heavy skin tone, pale flesh - My army painters war paints: Center skin - Createx transparent, dark brown paint - Liquitex heavy body acrylic: - Transparent burnt umber 🔗LINKS we used: Here’s where I got most of my wool for needle felting. About This Video

Today I’m heading back into my favorite kind of chaos: the woodland world. I “found” a sleepy little hedgehog in the forest (okay, I made him), and obviously he had to come home with us. In this video I turn wool into Herbert—a tiny needle felted hedgehog who now lives on the back of my Forest Witch Hat. If you’ve ever wanted a pocket-sized woodland companion, this is one of those projects that’s simple in process but feels downright magical when it’s done. I walk you through the whole build: shaping Herbert’s little clay features, making a tiny wire frame so he has structure, and then needle felting his wooly body until he actually looks alive. We get into the fun bits too—adding quills, giving him a proper haircut, and finishing details with paint and chalk pastels so he’s got that warm, earthy forest vibe. By the end, you’ve got a sturdy little creature you can perch on a hat, prop, or shelf—and hopefully the push you need to go make your own mythical critter.
