Deep in the woods, something old still lingers. This video follows the creation of a mystical tree dice tower inspired by forgotten magic and abandoned rituals. Made as a no-buy D&D craft, the build evolved naturally — shifting from something skeletal into an older, more mysterious presence as the project took shape. This no-buy crafting project focuses on working with materials already on hand rather than purchasing new supplies. The dice tower build emphasizes storytelling through texture, form, and weathering, making it ideal for fans of D&D terrain crafting, fantasy props, and immersive tabletop builds. 📍Where you can find us: Business Email: Magneticnerdsent@gmail.com TikTok: Mythical Makers Workshop Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mythical.makers.workshop/ Facebook: Mythical Makers Workshop 🎶 Music is from Epidemicsound https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/gfexzx/ 🧰 SUPPLIES we used: Paper towel tube Tinfoil Insulation foam Plaster of Paris Paper cup Cheese cloth Masking tape Armature wire 20 gauge jewelry wire DSA modeling clay Scrub-ology cotton yarn in emerald pine PVA glue (I used Elmers glue all) Hot glue Sculpting tools 🎨 PAINTS we used: Deco art: deep ocher Liquitex heavy body acrylic: transparent burnt umber Vallejo game color: Sombre Gray, dead white, earth, smoky ink, sepia, dark fleshtone, fluorescent violet, fluorescent magenta, squid pink, Hexed Lichen and green grey Vallejo model colors : Iraqui sand, Intermediate green Vallejo model air: pale blue gray and Russian green 🔗LINKS we used: T-Rex Skeleton 3D file link: https://www.printables.com/model/19871-t-rex-skeleton-fixed-and-printable Gregpallet's Dirt method https://www.tiktok.com/@gregpallet/video/7595288696769842446?lang=en Timestamps 0:00 - 1:02 Into 1:02 - 5:14 The Base 5:14 - 12:22 The Tree 12:22 - 16: 51 Painting 16:51 - 18:04 Vines 18:04 - 21:17 Final Details 21:17 - 22:22 The Reveal #DiceTower #DnDCraft #NoBuyDIY

About This Video

In this build, we head deep into the woods (at least spiritually) and make a mystical tree dice tower that feels like it’s been sitting in an abandoned ritual circle for a few hundred years. The whole point was a no-buy D&D craft: we used what we already had on hand and let the project evolve as we went. It started out leaning more “skeletal,” but as the textures, shapes, and weathering built up, it shifted into something older and more mysterious—like the tree is the spell, not just the scenery. We walk through the base, the tree structure, and all the messy magic that makes it believable: foil and foam for bulk, plaster and cheese cloth for that crusty ancient bark vibe, and then paint layers that do the storytelling. The big takeaway is that you don’t need to buy fancy terrain kits to get an immersive tabletop piece—texture, form, and grime do a ton of heavy lifting. By the end, it’s a functional dice tower with fantasy-prop energy, creeping vines, and that “something old still lingers” mood we love.
