About This Video

In this video, I share 7 ideas to help you make the most out of your holidays before university (especially if you’ve just finished A levels or wrapped up a tough semester). First things first: rest. And I don’t mean only sleeping (though please catch up on it) — I talk about recharging your mind and body in different ways too. I’ve been reading a book literally called “Rest”, and it reminded me that you can do more by doing less, whether that’s through exercise, “deep play”, or just giving yourself permission to slow down. After that, I go through practical holiday plans you can actually act on: travel and explore (make a bucket list and check it off), volunteer to give back (and yes, it helps your CV and interviews), and consider working a part-time job for extra cash. I also explain internships vs part-time jobs — internships are often unpaid, but they give you experiences you can talk about in depth during interviews. Finally, I encourage you to use this time to pursue hobbies you’ve been putting off (I picked up coding, finished paintings, and even learned violin), and to research universities and courses properly so you can make a decision that fits your priorities.
