This GCZ storage system has been a game changer for my GX470. As I continue to build this out to be an adventure rig storage is going to play a big role in the setup and this is a great start! About This Video

Operation Adventure GX470 is officially underway, and in this video I tackle a problem every overlander runs into fast—storage. When I’m out for a big trip (I’m talking about a month at a time), it’s not just me. It’s me, my dog, and my wife… and my wife likes to bring a lot of stuff. That means I needed a real storage upgrade in the back of the GX470 so my gear isn’t just piled everywhere. I install the CGZ/GCZ rear window hanging boards and the middle shelf kit, and I walk you through what I learned along the way—because yeah, there was a little learning curve and I didn’t totally know what I was doing at first. The Lexus interior has carpet back there, so I didn’t want to rely on a bunch of adhesive. The hook-style mounting into the trim ended up being super solid, and I loved the foam pads they include to kill rattles and vibration (huge win for off-road). After the install I mounted my med kit, tire patch kit, tow strap, and strapped gear up top so it stays put. This is the backbone for what’s next: a fridge setup and a built-in DIY power system in the GX so I can save space versus my big portable power station. I’m not doing the typical “sleep in the back” GX build—we’ve got a rooftop tent—so the plan is storage, fridge, and power while still keeping it practical for everyday stuff like grocery runs.
