In this video I’m going over my top picks from Record Store Day Black Friday 2025. I got to Phil’s Music Exchange up in Wilson, North Carolina at about 4:00 in the morning—freezing cold—and met up with Louie V (Vinyl Latte) and Shane (An Aussie Audiophile). They were already first in line and saved me a seat, and we ended up hanging out in Louie’s car for a bit until things started moving. Phil’s was awesome too—hot coffee, good vibes, and they really pumped the crowd up. As far as the actual RSD grabs, I kept it focused: A Charlie Brown Christmas (Vince Guaraldi) because it’s near and dear to my heart, Talking Heads: Tentative Decisions (demos/live from the early three-piece era), Miles Davis Live at the Plugged Nickel (second set, 12/23/65), and the big one—The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan with the four tracks that were originally pulled. After that I hit Raleigh and grabbed a few non-RSD titles, including a Rhino Reserve all-analog cut of Warren Zevon’s Excitable Boy and two more Talking Heads albums (More Songs About Buildings and Food and Fear of Music). Now I’m going to ultrasonically clean everything, spin them, and just enjoy them.
