About This Video

Good morning everybody—vlogs are back. In this one I headed out toward Hood River with Leslie on a gorgeous day, with a plan that was part hike, part overland event. We kicked things off on the Dry Creek Falls Trail, which is about 4.5 miles with roughly 900 feet of elevation gain. I hadn’t been there in a few years, so it was a solid “right distance, right time” kind of hike—pretty wooded most of the way, and then you get rewarded with a really nice waterfall before turning back. After the hike we grabbed lunch (yes, the roast beef sandwich was so good), then rolled into the Lone Peak Overland “gear drop.” It’s basically a scavenger hunt where they email out coordinates, you meet at a rally point, and then everyone takes off to find the hidden prize. I’d never used the onX app before, so there was a little learning curve, and honestly I expected a longer drive—but the drop ended up being only about a half mile away. People were running, getting a little wet, and going full chaos mode. We didn’t win, but it was still a fun experience, and we wrapped up by checking out a few Lone Peak wedge camper setups and meeting Kyle before heading home.
