After spending hours baking in the sun covered in dust and grass, I like to cool off and unwind, so I took the Niphean inflatable paddle board out for a real-world test. The folks at Niphean sent me this board to try, and after putting it through its paces, spoiler alert—it definitely gets the official Mark Thomas Builder approval. In this video I unbox what’s included (paddle, kayak paddle accessory, inflatable seat, and the pump), then I show you how quick it is to roll out, inflate, and get on the water. I timed the setup, and in about 6.7 minutes I had it inflated to 13 PSI—rock hard—and it honestly feels way more solid than you’d expect from an inflatable. My son Sawyer and I took it out at Muskallonge Lake State Park on Lake Superior here in Michigan, and the water was pretty choppy for a first run. I show how starting on your knees makes balancing easier, how the kayak seat supports you when you lean back, and I walk through the features like the bungees, carry handles, GoPro mount, and even brackets for rod holders. Bottom line: it exceeded my expectations, sets up and tears down fast, and feels sturdy enough that I’d put it up against a lot of “non-inflatable” boards.
