As a homeowner and a licensed Michigan residential builder, I’ve had to do water damage cleanup fast more times than I’d like. In this video I unbox and test the AlorAir Storm 80X commercial dehumidifier to see if it’s actually a smart way to prep for storm cleanup and water mitigation before it’s too late. I walk you around the unit, show the rugged build, the neat cord and hose storage, and how the quick-connect drain hose and built-in pump setup works for continuous drainage into a bucket. Then I put it in a real room test (about 1,331 sq ft) by adding moisture the way a lot of us actually do—carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning—without running the HVAC. I check noise (about 56 dB at roughly 3 feet), let it run overnight, and show the results: the chairs and carpet dried out well and it pulled about 6.5 quarts in the middle of February when humidity is already low. I also add my AlorAir Zeus 900 air mover, because in real water damage situations, moving air plus dehumidification is the combo that gets you ahead of mold and lingering moisture.
