Do you prep for your sales calls? Most likely, you want to, but don't. In this video I share my process for doing rapid prep ahead of a call. It goes something like this: 1️⃣ Check calendar / Calendly form details and open their website and LinkedIn profile. 2️⃣ On their website, look for 2 professional related nuggets. 3️⃣ On their LinkedIn, look for 2 personal related nuggets (bonus if you can connect it to your personal experience). I then try and drop in these nuggets organically throughout the call. People struggle with the personal nuggets. Here are a few examples that come to mind from recent conversations: 🏈 If they're from North Carolina, I'll mention the time I tailgated with the NC State football fans (Go Wolfbacks) 📄 If they worked in recruitment, I'll mention I also worked in recruitment 🎙️ If they sell a product I own, I might even bring that into the office 🍗 If they live in Boston, I'll mention the life changing Korean Fried Chicken I ate there. This helps build rapport and also shows my prospect that I've done some research without it sounding robotic. Bonus tip - if they're on video - scan their background quickly and see if there is anything that resonates with you. But don't force this. I know, I know, some of you are going to say that I can automate the pre-meeting prep with AI... but let's be honest, when you're on back to back calls you don't even have time to read the prep notes. And with the best prompts in the world - it still can't make the same connections from my experience.
